Celebrating 15 Years Of Business
December 23rd marked the 15th anniversary for De Dell Seeds! It was a cold December day back in 1999 when Vince Trudell filed the papers, incorporating the business. In the first year of sales, De Dell sold a few hundred bags, all of which were delivered in Trudell’s Volkswagen Jetta. Since then De Dell’s business has increased every year and now De Dell currently employs 5 full time employees, several part-time employees, and a network of more than 100 dealers.
De Dell Seeds was started when Trudell did not like what he saw happening in the seed industry and he branched out on his own to offer farmers an alternative philosophy. De Dell began with the ideology to stay away from the genetic modifications in corn, and they have stayed true to that ideal. Currently De Dell offers 32 conventional corn hybrids ranging from 77 days to 114 days, and nine of those hybrids are available certified organically.
While De Dell is pleased with the growth that has been accomplished over the past 15 years, we are also very proud to have been able to keep a small company attitude. There is always a live voice that answers the phone, and we keep overhead low to be able to offer farmers a fair price for their seed corn.
